While talk had surfaced among WildBlue dealers and installers that its Riverside Gateway was in some sort of trouble, company officials are saying the rumors of its demise are greatly exaggerated.

WildBlue-certified dealers began to express their concern after the company announced it was suspending new sales orders in the Northern California region - despite the fact that more than 1,000 pending orders are waiting to be installed, the company said. This is the area that is served by WB's Riverside gateway. But company brass insist the suspension does not affect the entire gateway.

"We expect to open up the Northern California area in question within approximately 60 days as we upgrade capacity on our satellites via network upgrades," Brad Greenwald, WildBlue's VP of sales and marketing, told SkyREPORT late yesterday. "Our goal in suspending this area is to maintain the high level of customer satisfaction we have achieved to date by not overloading the network."

Greenwald said with the new WildBlue 1 satellite slated for launch in November, the company is looking forward to tripling its nationwide capacity, not shutting any down.
