| Re: Repub seat must be real Repub acceptable to Senate said by GOLFnSUN :The nominee for one of the 2 Republican seats at the commission must be a real Republican to get the OK from the Republican members of the Senate. Why?
There are only 37 real GOP senators. That's well less than amount needed to put up any opposition to any Obama nominee. Expect someone who will toe the Obama line completely. He or she will probably be a lobbyist who may have not paid their taxes. -- Blagojevich / Madoff 2012!

He/She can't be a RINO who would just agree with whatever Obama wanted when controversial issues come before the FCC. Have any Republicans agreed with anything Obama has done so far? I remember his address to Congress and it was hilarious watching all the Democrats wildly cheer everything Obama said yet when they panned to the other side of the room, no one was moving and when the camera panned in, half the old Republican codgers were asleep.
I don't think they'd have a problem finding a Republican, (at least according to the current standards, are there any REAL Republicans left?), someone just needs to go wake them up to let them know they have something to do and can nap after lunch.

You do know the whole reason we even know about these little tax snafus from these cabinet members is because of the investigation process Obama put in place for vetting the candidates. I bet if the same process was used on many republican congressmen and senators you will find plenty of the same thing there too. It's only wrong if you're caught, eh?

If any GOP official had any tax issues, the media would have outed him or her long ago.
Government officials not paying taxes is inexcusable under any circumstance and should be an immediate and permanent disqualification for any government job at any level. If we peons are expected to pay our taxes without question, then so should those people who are tasked with enforcing these laws. -- Blagojevich / Madoff 2012!

There are a lot of places for you to "debate" (more like spar or taunt, but who's keeping score), but the rest of us are sick of having to wade through it every damn day. You all act like uneducated fools. Both sides.

| said by pnh102 :Ahh, the same old "it is OK cause Obama is doing it" excuse. Not in the slightest, and I have absolutely no idea where you get that (other than trolling). I said Obama's own screening process is what's finding these tax debts you love to slam the democrats on. I also said if the same litmus was applied to republican officials I would bet you would see the same level of tax problems. This isn't a lib/con thing. It's a political thing.
said by pnh102 :If any GOP official had any tax issues, the media would have outed him or her long ago. That is if it came to light. If the media is so resourceful how come FOX News or other media pundits didn't pull up any of this tax stuff ages ago? Show me how easy it is to get somebody's IRS audit case file and then we can talk.
said by pnh102 :Government officials not paying taxes is inexcusable under any circumstance and should be an immediate and permanent disqualification for any government job at any level. I agree wholeheartedly, but it's not my call. Maybe the fact the ones still holding their cabinet position came clean with IRS and are willing to pay up, fines and all, is enough to satisfy. I don't have a whole lot of information on the details of each of these people so I will hold final judgement until I know more.
However it's rather disingenuous to criticize Obama for his picks when he isn't aware of this until after the investigating (which again, he requires... never saw that with any Bush appointee). Obama picked the people based on their qualifications, and tax cheating (or mistakes depending on who you talk to) aside the qualifications are still valid. Does that mean they get a free pass? I don't think so, but again I'm not calling the shots. It's far too soon to say what will come of this.
Remember Bill Clinton cheated on his wife and lied about it, but he still balanced the budget and paid down out national debt better than any previous President.

| They didn't get the news. The new FCC boss didn't see the press release. They are still at home waiting for the cable company to arrive somewhere between 8am & 7pm some day in the week to get tv and internet hooked up. They would have caught the broadcast from the public airwaves, but the ran out of converter box coupons and all the local stations went digital.
They missed the important call because their old bag phone doesn't work with the digital cell towers since analog was shutoff. They were using the bag phone because the spectrum their Brickberry uses was sold and shutoff in that area.
They tried mailing the communication but it came back with insufficient postage, because they used the horseshoe stamp instead of the dandy lion one this month.
Finally they somehow got word for the appointment ceremony but their gps went out of whack so they couldn't find the place because they didn't have a map.

| Political BS Hearing the political back and forth reminds me of the scene in "The Green Beret" movie where Savoy29 (John Wayne) has evacuated the camp as it was over run by the VC. The camera shows Savoy29 calling in an air strike on the old camp and just before the air strike by "Puff the Magic Dragon" you see the VC running around stealing things from the dead, raising their flag and generally having the time of their about to be shortened miserable lives.
