| Weed Whackers
As a kid, I always loved weed whackers. I think because of just the nature of the beast; you whack weeds. Growing up, my dad had electric ones. They sort of got the job done, at least good enough.
As a recent first homeowner, I had the pleasure of buying my first weed whacker to well, err, whack weeds this weekned. I bought a gas powered Ryobi. Man that sucker is powerful, compared to the electric ones. I feel like if I turn it upright and goose the gas, I might achieve flight. -- "Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy." - George Carlin

Bye bye tree! haha, I can imagine. I bought the hedge trimmer attachment with it, only out of sheer necessity, as a rose bush has overgrown the door to my shed. None the less, after my evening with this thing tonight, I stand in awe of it's power and will probably pickup every attachment for it. Soon everything will be trimmed down to a nub! It happens. -- I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard is not what I meant. Nixon | |

| Re: Rambus wins.... Rambus would be dead already if not for an extremely dirty trick they pulled.
Namely, they joined JEDIC, which among other things, drafts open inter-operability and compatibility standards for many electronic devices, but in this particular case we're talking memory, RAM, memory controllers. They participated in JEDIC while standards for SDRAM and the foundations of DDR were being laid.... However RAMBUS didn't want to conform to JEDIC's open standards rules on patents and so on and withdrew.
They then filed for and were granted all kinds of patents on memory etc., including on the upcoming standards of SDRAM and DDR-RAM. Then they waited... You can see where this is going. Once SDRAM and DDR were firmly established, in the marketplace and in PC's and other devices, RAMBUS filed lawsuits against pretty much everyone who makes memory claiming they owned the patents to the standards. Many companies folded and just paid the extortion, others fought in court, it's dragged out for years but basically, in the end, RAMBUS wins, and all memory now in common usage is paying RAMBUS "royalties" for their licenses of memory standards that were supposed to be open and free but instead RAMBUS patented. Since RAMBUS produces nothing, they basically are just a patent/IP holder and yet they get to make millions off consumers in bogus royalties.
This final victory is the FTC giving up after losing on appeal. So RAMBUS got away with it. -- "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

| Re: Rambus wins.... Yes but that's not nearly as funny as rambus trying to market their slow-expensive RDRAM as the future back in the day. AMD might even owe a good deal of thanks to rambus for fooling Intel into buying into it and giving them their squandered 15 minutes of processor fame. -- Come let us reason together. | |

| Dem ex-congresscritter & head of CIA calls Pelosi a liar
»www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co···=topnews
CIA Director Leon Panetta today rejected House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's charge that the agency misled her in 2002 about its use of waterboarding and other coercive interrogation methods on suspected terrorists.
Panetta, who took office as President Obama's CIA chief in February, reasserted the agency's claim that it told congressional leaders about the use of such methods during a closed-door briefing in September 2002.
Panetta, a former Democratic congressman from California, urged CIA employees not to be distracted by the controversy. "Ignore the noise and stay focused on your mission," he said. »www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ilFhWMDzcE | |

| Awesome 1. People move into my parents nice neighborhood about 2 years ago and the man's bitchy wife and their waste of life son deal drugs out of their house. 2. All sorts of wonderful people begin visiting for 3 minutes at a time multiple times a day for about 6 months. 3. Cops eventually figure it out come and arrest the son, bitchy mother who has worked in the background pawns it all off on him, son goes to jail. 4. Fast forward a year, son is out of jail, wonderful people begin visiting again. 5. Fast forward to 3 nights ago and nightly drive-by's of that house begin. Dumbass father lies to cops about who's house is actually the target because bitchy wife and son are again dealing drugs but apparently pissed off the wrong person.
About the only good thing about this is listening to the cop snickering as his lame story. Clearly they aren't shooting at your house since the only bullet holes they can find are in your house. Clearly these must be some sort of cross eyed gangsters. -- Come let us reason together. | |

| iHas iPhone. That's right. This week, i will be taking delivery, of teh iFone. The wifey & i finally got family plan which will save us money vs 2 individual plans.
She is getting a new one next monday or the monday after that, while i am getting a refurb tomorrow. The refurbs are cheaper, and we got it for free because of a huge mistake they made on her acct when combining them together. They also because of the error gave us 4000 rollover minutes.
Not at liberty to say on public internet forum what the error was exactly, lets just say we were not happy at all for about the 6 hours between first call & second call.
Will post again when take delivery some time between tuesday and thursday.
------------------------------------ That's a pretty cool tank by the way, too bad we didn't have those in ww2. Less people in harms way = better. Preferably no war at all, but till that day, keep people exposed to risk to a minimum.
Can we make that technology work for automobiles too? I'd much rather see smart roads, because most drivers are not smart enough to obey common sense around where i live.
