IOS 6 update causing many connecting to WiFi problems

iPhone and iPad owners who rushed to update to the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system were met with a number of software surprises including one they never expected: the inability to connect to Wi-Fi networks.

But late Wednesday, users started flooding Twitter and Apple forums with reports that they were no longer able to connect to Wi-Fi networks after they had updated to the new software release.

Affected users who attempt to connect to a Wi-Fi network are shown a “Page Not Found” error on Apple.com, as pictured right. This VentureBeat reporter noticed the issue on her iPhone 4S, but was able to connect her second generation iPad to Wi-Fi networks without a hitch.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for a comment.

Problem still ongoing, but no comments from Apple yet.

Had this exact problem with WiFi on my iPhone 4s with iOS 6 at the local watering hole about an hour ago. After chow I decided to try it again and it connected no problem. I'm using to post now as a matter of fact (over WiFi).

These issues interest me to the Nth degree. If it was an issue with the new iOS, how did they fix it so soon, and how did they fix it without pushing an update to the phone, etc?

It's the same curiosity that led me to take things apart when I was a child. The console TV, the top loading VCR, every computer I ever owned. I always was willing to break out the screwdrivers and dissect the sucker, whatever it was.

I had one patient that didn't make it. PS2. That was when I started to rely on the online tear downs. Just too expensive to tear something like a PS2 in its prime apart & kill it.....

 Updates are preceding slowly, I'm struggling to see 3Mb from Apple's DL servers at the moment. They rolled out iOS6, 10.8.2 and 10.7.5 plus TRUCKLOADS of App Store app updates for all this stuff. Even Microsoft rolled out retina display support for Office 2011 today.

I would not be surprised if this is a calculated lie. Randall wants people off of unlimited plans and onto share plans, just like Verizon. Verizon is accomplishing this by removing the subsidy.

Problem is that AT&T is deathly afraid of a mass exodus to Verizon's superior network, so they're still playing nice to their existing customers.

If Randall can seed the idea that the subsidy is not really such a deal breaker to rabid Apple fans, it'll make following Verizon's approach seem less risky to investors.

 The only way I'd be paying full price for an iPhone would be so I could take it to T-Mobile for cheap unlimited data, and flip Stephenson and his Death Star off along the way.

I'd rather walk than fly Delta. They are THE WORST US carrier bar none.
