Yes, that is a funny name. But their product sounds pretty good:

quote:
fixed wireless broadband Internet and telephone service in Florida called OMGFAST, charging subscribers $29.95 monthly for a 50 Mbps Internet connection

The new service is relying on Multichannel Video Data Distribution Service (MVDDS) spectrum, which can be used to deliver wireless video, voice and Internet services to subscribers with fixed wireless receivers.

Phone available for an additional $14.95/month and includes unlimited local and long distance (contiguous US Only).

Re: OMGFAST?

I wonder if they plan on having this in other markets. Great pricing and would a nice backup connection for my RCN cable modem. I agree the name is odd.

Court May Order Google to Censor 145;Torrent,146; 145;RapidShare

- 'Gun','Firearm','weapon','knife',etc should also be censored as Google indirectly facilitates armed robberies/assault with deadly weapons/murder/etc. by failing to filter these terms.

- 'Alcohol', 'Drinking', 'Vodka', 'Wine', etc. should also be censored as Google indirectly facilitates public drunkeness, alcoholism, and drunk driving.

- 'Car', 'Automobile', etc. should be censored as Google indirectly facilitates hit and runs.

- 'Baseball' should also be censored, as part of baseball involves a bat, and people could use the bat as a weapon, so again, Google indirectly facilitates armed robberies/murder/etc.

- All these "Piracy" websites, all use HTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, etc. Google should also censor those as Google indirectly facilitates illegal distribution of copyrighted works by helping these people learn to make the websites used by those evil pirates!

- 'Temperature', 'Heat', 'Weather', etc. should be censored as Google indirectly facilitates global warming/climate change...

Yea, mostly pretty absurd to even consider most of that, but it's more or less along the same line of thinking. Realistically, If this does infact happen, I wouldn't be surprised if terms like "MP3 player", "MP3", "AVI", "Winamp", "VLC", "Windows media player", "DAEMON tools", etc. all are gone after next, after all, by allowing people to find those things google facilitates people watching/listening/using pirated Movies/music/software.

Re: Court May Order Google to Censor 145;Torrent,146; 145;RapidS

What's even more silly is that it doesn't appear to apply to the actual search.
said by TorrentFreak :

French Supreme Court ruled that Google can be required to censor the search terms ‘Torrent’, ‘RapidShare’ and ‘Megaupload’ from its Instant and Autocomplete services.

Meh, minor inconvenience for the French at best, IMO. Besides, Google has been doing this for a year now.

said by TorrentFreak :

For Google, fighting the French case is a matter of principle. The search engine has already been filtering “piracy-related” terms from its ‘Autocomplete‘ and ‘Instant‘ services for more than a year, worldwide.

Its not by cablevision

One of the dolans invested in it BUT its not cablevision. The omgfast.com doesn't even mention cablevision at all.
