| Re: This is Progress? They operate under a very similar scenario as telcos. There is a heavily government regulated side and a for-profit side. The power they provide to customers is regulated. Fiber internet/telephone/tv is "for profit" and stands on it's own.
Of course BVU a few months back had a hard time getting customers to swallow that after a contract renewal raised their power rates and they passed them along to the customers. | |

| ............... You have to keep in mind that this is a rural area and things will start slowly until they get broke in. This is a milestone for this area. Just this evening on my way home I got stuck in construction and it ended up being the contractors laying more of the fiber. | |

| Re: TN not VA Um, my point was that the article stated that BTES had a deployment in Southwest VA. That would be incorrect, BVU is in that state and BTES is in Northeast TN. Neither entity can cross the state line to offer services in the neighboring state. It was basically a typo... I'm quite familiar with BVU's system, we pay them a bunch of money per month for co-location and bandwidth. | |
