| Could Be Useful For those of us who don't want to be tied to a monthly plan, and who prefer not to have to search out and use public wifi while on vacation. I can see this being more preferable and secure than using wifi in a hotel room, and much more convenient to use from a vacation rental home, rather than having to lug one's laptop over to the nearest McDonald's or whatever - especially if using a 15" or larger laptop.
The price and data caps, though, are ridiculous.

| Re: When will they learn? I just think it's a huge missed opportunity. Most people will not go over the cap, but most people are not willing to pay top dollar for something that isn't flat fee. I certainly am not. The risk of overage is deal breaking.
But if it was 7 bucks a day, I could get one and any time I traveled I could use it. Use that instead of the airport wifi. Have it work all day from airport to hotel or across multiple airports. Hotel may have internet, but lots of times hotel internet is terrible. So then you could pull this out and pay 7 bucks a day. If you are using it for a day of air travel and 2-3 days in a hotel you can justify the expense. This thing could be the travelers friend. | |

$20 30 Days 250 MB

$60 30 Days 1 GB

If they didn't have a 30 day limit before the plan expires it would be perfect.
If I used the cellular broadband on a regular basis, it looks like the Cricket service is by far the best deal. A free modem and only $40 a month for up to 5GB is a sweet deal. I paid $150 for my Virgin mobile modem when they were first released. | |

| Re: Ouch. Cricket's definitely the better deal but I think their data coverage is even more limited than Virgin's. Roommate had Cricket and he was constantly dealing with an overloaded network for voice calls, so I'd be hesitant to rely on their data.
Virgin's plan will definitely do what I need. I'm on call one week a month and there are times I need to get online quickly. 250mb is more than I'd need for those occasions. $20 every now and again, versus $60 every month... it's a done deal.
$150 up front sucks. But I think it'll do! Thanks for your feedback on the Virgin plan. | |

| Unnnggghhhhhh..... Maybe this will fly if they gave say $19.99 = 5GB, $49.99 = 20GB. Heck, I would do $19.99 for 5GB while on vacation. Could have used it on my last Vegas trip where the hotel had a $5 a day modem to use, no free Wi-Fi and no business center. This would be a no brainer.
....but no....

Sounds like Vodafone's shareholding in VZW is talking. Historically they've always been the network to charge ridiculous prices for little usage on pay-as-you go over here, although that's changing now that they realise that they need to compete. They now charge £15 for 1GB, but you must buy their dongle and SIM. If you browse on a phone it's still the same crap rate. | |

I already have internet on my cell phone with my Straight Talk phone which gives me unlimited data, talk and texts for only $45/month. it's on Verizon's network nationwide so I always get good signal. | |
