| Re: I remember that Hi, Downloaded the app on my older laptop but there are no AP's in my area only one town over. I checked CV's site and they seem to have it at all if not most NJT Train stations. My son tells me he can get a CV signal on the boardwalk in NJ. It seems you cannot wit VZ yet. It's a start. FIOS 1 has been around a month and they are slowly but surely getting there act together. Lee

| att I'm guessing the payphone Wifi APs will never come back :-(
Verizon should convert all the payphones in the subway to loop powered cellular base stations.
Whats funny is, Boingo roams on ATT hotspots. So Verizon customers now have ATT Wifi, ATT DSL style.

| XP and Vista only! Verizon offers a directory for the 13,850 Boingo hotspots you'll get access to after you log in via the Verizon portal to download a wireless access application.
As is being discussed in the Verizon forum here the application only runs on XP and Vista. This is quite unfortunate.

| Re: Only for Residential Customers Well, duh. They expect Business customers to supply their workers with Verizon wireless broadband cards/etc. and pay the overpriced data rates on that, too.
You really thought you'd get off that easy?
++++
Thats kinda a joke since I pay more for a DSL line that I would for 20/20 FiOS....

| wow Hmm cablevisions wifi workks with macs and linux as well. Cablevisions you dont have to install software you just sign in via the web page.
Also all cablevision customers get to use it.
Obviously verzion saw cablevisions area wide wifi as a huge problem.
The thing is though cablevision has other plans for their wifi .
This shows verizon is scared of cablevision.

4 edits | Re: wow Yeah, that leaves me out of the game. My Nokia N810 wi-fi internet tablet runs on a Linux based OS. So, I'm SOL. If it wern't for the application being needed to connect, I would have been set. I got as far as creating an account, but when it went to download the app, it said sorry this application will only run on Windows XP and Vista. Not everybody wants to lug around a 3-4 lb. netbook/laptop. Verizon wanted to make sure that they didn't threaten their very profitable wireless cash cow. Would had been nice though if this would had been supported for hand held devices. Most of the places that I have been in the mid-atlantic region had poor Boingo/AT&T coverage anyway, so most people will not be able to take advantage of this, unless they live in a large metropolitan area.

| Good Luck I pay $350 a month for 2 768/7.1 business DSL lines
The business support has not freaking clue how to help me. 4 sales people keep pushing me around and telling me I need FIOS. My offices ate 7000 feet from the CO and they haven't installed the FIOS equipment yet.
Its very unnerving that Verizon has no effing clue what they are doing.

| Search errors The verizon Wi-Fi Access HotSpot Directory has search errors
1. example search State New York city Manhattan All types results 28 locations 27 are STARBUCKS no bookstores listed
2. example search State New York city New York All types results 220 locations If you refine by Bookstore You see quite a few Barnes & Noble (Bookstore) but they appeared like only Manhattan ones but I am not sure didn't check them. by (Retail Business) only 1 Barnes & Noble by (Other Public Areas) you get 29 locations with 23 of them are Public Telephones in Manhattan and other boroughs
I just checked this 1 of 23 listed because it didn't seam right. I didn't really take time to look at the others Public Telephone - 650 3rd Avenue (Other Public Areas) 650 3rd Avenue New York,New York 11232
so when I clicked map it the results were 650 3rd Ave Brooklyn, NY 11232 Did you mean: 650 3rd St, Brooklyn, Kings, NY 11215 650 E 3rd St, Brooklyn, Kings, NY 11218
3. example search State All City New York same results as 2.
I guess that Verizon doesn't give priority to correcting errors in this search. You can only search by full zip code. I love searches like this site has for comparing speed test you can increase your zip code search area by leaving out digits starting from right to left
I do love Verizon FiOS I have 20/20 (all speeds shown are Mbits/s) $69.95(no package) which is now being offered as 25/15. I will keep 20/20 and hope they don't force a change to 25/15.
My main activity is P2P bit torrent Many bit torrent users forget or are not aware that a 10 /10 can be better than 10/1 10/2 20/5 etc if sharing fast, fairly and quanity is important to them.
I belong to a few private sites that have ratio requirements. My fast upload makes it easier and faster to get and share as much as possible. I don't get evening slowdowns like cable users "might' get. Plus the hell with Cable, FiOS, Vontage and any other $19.95 and up phone service. I use Skype About $5 a month if you get the subscription and a local number unlimited US to US & Canada calls (almost unlimited 10,000 minute cap) I mainly use my Verizon Cell phone $39.95+ (many family & friends use them) 450 minutes but with peak calls to non verizon $0.45 per minute over 450 Skype comes in handy if I may go over.
