LTE (Long Term Evolution),
mobile WiMax and Qualcomm's 3GPP2
UMB (Ultra Mobile Broadband). All three standards offer low latency and theoretical max speeds that crush EVDO and HSDPA, but with AT&T and Verizon putting their weight behind LTE and Sprint embracing WiMax, UMB's prospects quickly dimmed. Given that analysts
were saying UMB was dead a year ago, and no major carrier wanted to deploy the technology, Qualcomm today finally announced they were
stopping development of UMB and focusing their resources on LTE.
