| Re: Tell me something.. I care because it offers diversity of services and competition. I welcome AT&T to bring U-Verse to my area, if for nothing more than to keep the cableco and sat tv providers in check.
I fail to understand why everyone is so negative towards additional choice.

| Re: Tell me something.. But the beauty of T's option is that you have additional choices. If you don't like them, move on. I also don't really see the product as mediocre or inferior to "existing" products. T is still upgrading the plant and tweaking the system. Service offerings will only continue to get better....like almost every other provider. And as I've said before, this incremental build-out is a phased approach towards eventually running FTTH. Steady investment versus dumping all of your eggs in a basket and hoping the ROI eventually shows up like VZ. | |

| said by djrobx : quote: Why do we care where U-Verse hits? It is a lame, cheap interpretation of FTTH,FIOS,FTTP!
I care because U-verse is literally cheap. For the next 6 months I'm going to be paying about half what I paid Time Warner for TV service, and get a LOT more for it. said by openbox9 :I fail to understand why everyone is so negative towards additional choice. I'm not sure it's negativity toward the choice, but rather disappointment and frustration in AT&T's choice to deliver a mediocre product that's in many ways inferior to existing products, instead of a cutting-edge one. With the economy tanking and people in search of ways to lower their bills, the strategy might work out for AT&T. NOT SO FAST there bubby. what about AFTER the 6th month? this is T, so you know there'll be an ETF somewhere on that deal. -- When I gez aju zavateh na nalechoo more new yonooz tonigh molinigh - Ken Lee

| You obviously don't care where it hits, but for some people who don't have a good choice, or broadband, this is a service that could be a sigh of relief for them and make a world of difference. There are obviously more superior implementations, which you seem more inclined to, but downplaying U-verse because its technology seems inferior to you is pretty silly. I don't think those folks in Wisconsin care. It's broadband choice they either didn't have before, or can try in lieu of cable. | |

| Re: If U-Verse is deployed .... Yes it's deployed... and maybe, just maybe it will make Time Warner around here and where you used to live raise their upload speeds to something over 512kbps on Turbo! 384kbps on regular service is, in today's internet marketplace, laughable.

| Serious question My mom just got Uverse TV and Pro Internet. She also had her landline phone ported from Sage (someone small Telecom company here in Milwaukee) to AT&T local phone.
She got a very basic phone plan, limited local calling, no long distance and no additonal features, and her bill was $38.
I'm thinking she would really benefit on getting Uverse Phone, the 1000 plan would probably be fine for her so she can get Caller ID back and such.
Any suggestions? | |

| Vonage over U-verse better deal I've been running Vonage over U-Verse since Dec. Vonage works better than over TWCable (faster upload speeds). Vonage in Milwaukee runs me $30/mo total, that's tax and every thing. If you pay by the year they knock off another $5/month.
Vonage is full featured unlimited calling in USA, Canada, France, England, and may be more. U-Verse VOIP adds another $5 or $10 on for several features Vonage provides free.
