AT&T is continuing their staggered deployment of U-Verse voice, bringing the new phone service to the Madison, Wisconsin market. The company offers two flavors: U-verse Voice Unlimited, which includes unlimited local and nationwide minutes to any location in the U.S., Canada or U.S. territories for $30 a month -- and U-verse Voice 1000, which includes 1,000 Call Anywhere minutes to any location in the U.S. or U.S. territories for $25 a month. When initially launched, those prices were $40 and $30, respectively -- but were lowered earlier this fall.

Not so Wow

In the incredible spiraling race to the bottom for our economy AT&T is once again too slow to realize that Charter already offers this flavor in our area for $10.00 less per month.

I remember when Bell labs were innovative.

Re: Not so Wow

AT&T has had Uverse in some markets for a year and a half, but still have the only phone service available as 'POTS'.
If they offered the 'same' plan + features on POTS (and didn't charge me all the garbage unfees), then its comparable to Cable.
AT&T does extend an olive branch with a $30 nation plan.. but doesn't offer all the features, then charges ~$13 in fees for being a POTS service.
Maybe after my 1 year plan on TWC is up, AT&T will compete again.

Caps?

Will their VOIP service count against their caps?

Better places for ATT to bring this....

OK, so ATT hits the big cities in Wisconsin like Milwaukee, Madison, Appleton, etc. where there is already MANY ISP's who service the area. Then they completely IGNORE the rural customers who can only have AT&T's copper phone service, no DSL, 20k dial up at best, etc.

HEY AT&T!! Here's a thought, pop up some POPS in the rural areas!! NOBODY would complain about the boxes, and in fact, many of us will GIVE you the land to place them!! Just bring us some sort of WIRED broadband!!!

Sorry for the rant....

Fix your existing areas!

Maybe they should focus on existing areas more.

I live in St. Louis, and their service here is really strange. One area will be blanketed with DSL and Uverse. Some areas will have just DSL available, and some areas will have NO service available to them from AT&T (Charter is all you have).
On my street, we have just Charter. You go a few blocks down the street, and they have DSL. They installed enough hardware to ALMOST give people service.

Why would they stop there? Some areas have been AT&T "dry" for YEARS now. They go without while the people across the street get the works.

Why keep expanding into new markets when they can't even provide service in their existing markets?

It's one thing if they never offered their service in the are, but it's horrible if they run CONSTANT TV ads trying to push their DSL and U-verse when it isn't even available to so many homes they are advertising it too.
