| | Not buying the Google Car stories To claim that Google Cars were logging video and audio files from open WiFi networks is a blatant attempt to exploit the technical ignorance of the general public. How many open APs in the average urban city 1-mile square? How much data would that be at any given time? Consider also that the cars take 4-5 pictures every 50 feet. If the Cars were logging video and audio as well, wouldn't that be an impractically large amount of data after mapping a couple miles of city streets? It would also slow down the data capture/storage.
And phone numbers? Where were those coming from? |
