Now in addition to our public forum, users who need more personal support for technical or billing issues can post their problems in the Time Warner Cable direct forum. Maybe they could update their website...

On their website here: »www.timewarnercable.com/Wisconsi···ult.html

-It lists
*Up to 6 times the speed of DSL claim is based on Road Runner's standard download speed of up to 10 Mbps
10 Meg RoadRunner is not the standard service locally... 7 Meg /512k is, atleast in Milwaukee,WI.

The RR Turbo locally is 15 Meg/1 Meg..

I think he's saying that it should be changed to reflect the fact that standard service is 7mbps there, not 10mbps as implied by the site.

Re: Maybe they could update their website...

not true for Ohio. That depends on your market.

Marion is the old Adelphia market which is in line with Columbus. Although they are the Mid Ohio Market- the rest of the MOM is still 7/512 on standard. in NEO the Standard is the same- 7-512 The turbo is 15/768.

Cinci and Dayton have their own speeds. If TWC was smart they'd kill the markets and level the speeds across the country to be the same.

Re: Maybe they could update their website...

I agree with that as well.. maybe they could start to compete with AT&T's UVerse offerings locally.

Here in northern NH TWC tiers are
- standard = 8000/512
- turbo = 18000/1000
Nothing over 1mbps is available on residential accounts.

(un)FairPoint DSL is much closer to symmetrical with 3000/768 as the standard offering.

You sure Turbo isnt 15,000/1,000?? I thought the Maine and NH markets were the same across the board since they fall under TW New England.

No, not sure. 15000 sounds just as good to me.

15 Down, but up to 22 down with Powerboost. Still waiting for an upload kick.

It's 10/1 with Powerboost for standard around here. 15/1 with Powerboost for Turbo. Standard sees around 20M with Powerboost while Turbo sometimes sees around 30. I am now a standard customer because the Turbo doesn't make anything I do really more efficient due to the low upload speed. 10 mbps sustained downstream is really enough, especially with only a 1 mbps upload. Would consider going back to turbo if they pushed the upstream up a little bit.

Re: Maybe they could update their website...

It's 7 Meg/512k for standard here, although I have seen it spike at 30 Meg with PowerBoost. If I lived in the next county over, and depending on the address, it might be TWC or Charter... although Charters 8 Meg has 1 Meg upload.

good move

Nice to see they got on board. Wish it happened long ago ... like before I closed my dedicated account.

How do we know for sure if the info can only be seen by the customer and the TWC reps?

Re: good move

BBR passes to a private channel. Additionally, it's dead boring and valueless stuff. You're lucky if the TWC rep pays attention.

I'm Curious...

How much does DSLR charge ISPs for the ability to have a "private" forum?

that is something we'll never know but i'm sure the major ISPs don't pay anything.

Re: I'm Curious...

why would a company like TWC or Comcast and ATT PAY a little "news" site such as BBR for "support fourms" They can do the same on the phone or by giving PAMs like VZ did.

We charge them nothing. The idea is to make sure users get the help you need. They staff the forums, all we do is just sweep up now and again.

Too late to be a help to me

When I was a TW vict..errr...customer their support was atrocious. Ive never met a group of less helpful support people in my life. Ive since moved to an area with FIOS and CV and while CV couldnt fix my issues they tried hard and were as helpful as they could be. But I now have FIOS and Im never moving somewhere that doesnt have it.

Re: Too late to be a help to me

Verizon of India was worse, are you kidding? I should say IS worse as I now have to deal with an issue of them still charging me after cancellation and the line being shut off over a month ago. Now both my places are on TWC, whose phone number puts you in contact with our local office. You can keep Verizon of India. I am sure they need love over there too

Better late than never

Standard is 5/1 in Hawaii. We are getting upgraded toward the end of this year.

As for this direct support, I just clicked on All Forums link and stumbled on it that way. I never thought I would see the day that Time Warner would do something like this...not after how nasty they were to their own techs who posted on their own time in our public RR forum. What an about face! Better late than never, I guess and TW is about the last major ISP to do anything worthwhile. But at least they finally got on board in this regard. Wonder what their position is now if their techs post in the public RR forum? Will they still fire them like they used to do?
