| Mozilla issues two critical security advisories I have Firefox 3 and it updated automatically to 3.0.1 today. I saw it happen when I tried to open Firefox and it reported that updates were being installed. So, maybe only some people have automatic updates disabled in Firefox 3.0. -- No one is always right or always wrong, unfortunately. | |

| Metered broadband while we all know that greed will drive us there its just a matter of when. id honestly hope that the ISPs would be smart enough to leave data streams from the windows update servers out of the counter. simply because secure customers means less spam and bots on their network. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports | |

| Legislation will happen to prevent metering. Cable companies don't have a right to profit off of other people's content. That is what metering does. Imagine the RIAA suing ISPs for charging a per megabyte rate on copyright infringing downloads. If the person paid the ISP to download the illegal content, then it stands to reason the RIAA can siphon off the profits from that fee. On top of that it then allows ISPs to dictate what acceptable usage is. As new video download services get popular, your ISP is basically going to dictate how many movies you can download a month before you start paying them fees to download more that that. | |
