Cisco to Service Providers: Get Moving Spending on IPv6
It's an expensive proposition. We have a very large number of users who do not own IPv6 capable routers and firewalls. Their vendors won't put out updates for these devices so they are stuck spending money on new ones. In some cases it's $1000+ for a new firewall and right now that's a tough sale for smaller businesses.
I predict a lot of cash strapped ISP will take the NAT route and use one Public facing IP and assign customers private IP addresses. -- The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.
Re: FCC Gets Earful On Further Inquiries On Net Neutrality
The FCC extended net neutrality comments by 2 months. They gave several reasons, some of which may be legit. But they didn't give the most likely reason: to push the decision date past the mid-term congressional elections. I'm betting they wanted to delay the decision so that they could see which way the wind was blowing and see if the new Congress makeup affects support for their agenda.
Intel dont compete in risc architecture. The last chip they mad that was risc was in the early 90's, some say the Itanium was risc but not quite. PowerPC used to use risc processors pre 2006. Who cares about how fast it goes really. Unless they can help amd translate those kind of clocks into their bulldozer lineup.
