The FCC Finally Gets Their New Commissioners
Ajit Pai and Jessica Rosenworcel, Come on Down
The U.S. Senate has finally approved two Federal Communications Commission nominees
who had been blocked by a dispute over how the agency handled LightSquared's bid to build an LTE network. Democrat Jessica Rosenworcel and Republican Ajit Pai had their nominations blocked by Senator Charles Grassley, who accused the FCC of giving favorable treatment to LightSquared, then accused the FCC of hiding data that proved it. LightSquared has since spiraled toward oblivion after the FCC refused to grant them a spectrum waiver due to interference concerns with GPS technology.
