T-Mobile's not having a great week, but things are getting faster...

T-Mobile isn't exactly having a great week. First, they suffered through a national outage that potentially impacted millions of customers. Then, the company began sending e-mails containing photos of topless women to their customers (which is apparently bad). After that, their 3rd quarter earnings indicate they lost 77,00 subscribers and continue their struggle to keep up with bigger industry players. On the positive side, it appears that the company is speeding up its HSDPA 3G upgrades, and has started unofficially lighting up faster 7 Mbps speeds in a number of markets. T-Mobile customers: let us know if you're seeing faster speeds by posting in our comment section below.

New feature pushing topless photos may spread to iPhone

This new T-Mobile feature of pushing topless photos to their customers may start a feature war with AT&T; Verizon; & Sprint. Instead of competing over 3G coverage maps, they can compete over who has the best boob coverage.

I haven't seen anything...

In the bay area, but it sounds like things are changing quickly as 7.2 is supposed to be done by the end of 2009 and HSPA+ by the end of 2010.

7.2 @ $50 a month, I'd seriously consider it for a mobile connection. I'd be scared to go over the cap tho, $200 a gig overages...

You should tether. 10gb cap and then you're soft-capped.

3G? Ya gotta be kiddin' me!

T-Mo's web site shows full 3G coverage here in Centerville, Ohio, but my TouchPro2 has never seen it during the week I have owned the phone. The EDGE speeds are extremely slow, when I can even get them. 7.2 seems lightyears away.

use street level mapping to see if you're even in the coverage area.

Sure did! I drove through Cincinnati yesterday and had 3G coverage through most of that area... on the interstate.

No 7.2Mbps here in SF yet

Heard rumors of this yesterday and ran a speed test with G1 tethered USB to my laptop.

More important than the 77K overall subscribers...

They lost 140,000 postpaid contract subscribers and churn rose and ARPU went down from Q2 2009.

Looking at the link that iansltx provided, Q3 2009 ARPU is $47 while Q2 2009 ARPU was $48 and Q3 2008 ARPU was $52.

T-Mobile 7.2 Mbps Upgrades Arriving?

Speed? I don't know. Customer service for me has been the best. But for the phones themselves? I had to go to Ebay to get a phone that suites my fancy to run on T-Mobile. Over all, I have not much negative to say about T-Mobile.

Contract out due to outage and bad service

Do you think its a possibility T-Mobile will let a phone out of contract because of the outage and because of all the service isues I have been having with them over the past year?
