starting May 1. The company is still only offering most customers here EDGE "broadband" connectivity. The company spent $4.2 billion last year for 120 1700Mhz licenses in order to offer UMTS/HSDPA, but, last we saw, was blaming Uncle Sam for failing to get off the airwaves in a timely manner. Company execs had claimed the network would go live by this summer, but they may have been distracted by their quest to
prevent people from using the color magenta.
Update:
TMONews has posted a leaked company memo with additional detail on launch cities, which include Austin, New York, Miami, Las Vegas and Minneapolis (though NY will be the first). The memo claims the company will expand the 3G network to more than 20 markets by the end of this year.
