| I have two arcades within 45 minutes driving distance that I know of. I know of at least a half dozen that have closed within the past three years within 15 minutes.

| pay to play till you hit an error Hmmm, does that mean there will be some coin-op games out that will be full of bugs and all they have to do is push a patch that will fix the bug?
I can see it now, you stick a 1.50 in play and about 3 minutes later you come across an error that will not allow you to go on or your playing a driving game and you get stuck on a guardrail and the reset doesnt work because it dosnt know you are stuck.
I guess it was only time when we will pay to beta test coin-op games just like we do when someone releases a game for a computer. -- Get your own Gamercard Sig.

Sorry, no we cannot service your arcade. "Where DSL is not available, New Edge Networks can substitute other access technologies ensuring 100 percent coverage." Its in the article. | pinball games made in the past 10 years have had rom updates that you can download and burn to eprom chips the new stern games now have usb based updates. They also have game on test from time to time with beta roms in them.
also Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 Wave Net had network play about 5 years ago. It was cool at time and it was only $0.50 a game. »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_M···Wave_Net »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rush_Wavenet
the fast and furious arcade game says on line playing coming soon.
that game has made by the same people who did San Francisco Rush games and the Cruis'n USA games.

| sigh I am imagining that Playstations and Xboxes, along with the paranoid notion that kids aren't "safe enough" at the arcades, are what killed them.
Back in the day, nothing was cooler than burning through $20 of quarters on Galaga at your local arcade. Like a Subway franchise, it seems every town in America had some bastardized version of this opium-den of gaming pleasure.
Since people could smoke just about anywhere, the arcades I visited were smoky, nearly dark rooms illuminated only by the consoles themselves. Invariably, this den was populated by hesher kids with mullets and/or the rokker cut, and this crowd was in turn ruled by the local master of one particular game. They stood in stoned silence, watching the master waste time/money on his favorite game as Rush or Molly Hatchet blared from the 10 cent jukebox in the corner...ah, memories of better times.

| not dead Anyone that thinks arcade games are dead hasn't been to a bar around here lately. Golden Tee golf makes money almost as fast as the government can coin it. All the machines are connected to the Golden Tee network as well with cash prizes going to tournament winners. -- What's certain about Darwinism is that it would take less time for (1) a single-celled organism to evolve into a human being through mutation and natural selection than for (2) Darwinists to admit they have no proof of (1) - Ann Coulter | |

| Cherry Hill Mall and the shore The arcades at the shore are busy all year long, winter they just vacuum more because they can. On Saturday the cherry hill mall is packed. I wonder what advertising we will see with these networked games ? -- the darkest moment is often just before dawn (unless we hold onto the darkness). | Re: Cherry Hill Mall and the shore yea its a shame the killed the one at the eshelon mall that one was great. I spent alout fo my teen years there. I was resently in the morestown mall and seen there new arcade and indore skate park I was amazed. The deptford mall arcade is still going strong isnt it? Ive never been a big fan of the deptford mall one just because they packed so much crap in such a small space there was never any room to play and at least a 45 min wait to get on most mechines | |

| Arcades are not dead The same one I went to 16 years ago is still there, going strong with new titles. It was there before me and will be there for many more years to come. Also, this is not an original idea unless it will put you in the races against others sitting in arcades across the globe. I have played some racing game at a local bar for a while back that allowed you to save custom cars, put your stats up against others locally and globally. It also offered prizes each month. | |

| Good idea. Its a good idea, I know hwere in the US networked arcade games never hit as big as they did in Japan, but what do you know maybe just maybe it might happen.
Also, game revisions are nothing new. If you go to the mame site and look at the list of support games and information (I think the section called mawe) you'll see many games with revisions. EX: Killer Instict 1.2 Killer Instict 1.3 Killer Instict 1.4
Whats in a revision varies, it could be, new chracters, system balance, cheap shots worked out, or even bugs. However remember that management doesn't just mean patching they could check on how things are running, aleart to possible problems, heck, what if they could detect broken controls and dispatch someone to fix it!
