| Will you be able to get U-verse (no tv) and direct tv with $5 of Will you be able to get U-verse (no tv) and direct tv with $5 off under the att deal?
Direct tv is better then U-verse no 2-3 HD limit, $5 /m per box vs $7 and hide sd duplication of HD channels. same # as well.
Comcast has 50 and is talking about 100 will att go after speeds that high as well?

1 edit | Re: Great It is 15/1 here in Milwaukee,WI.. [right now for RR turbo] Standard is 7/512k... [What I have, with TurboBoost]
Locally, Time Warner Cable claims to have the faster service, but with it going to 24 Meg Uverse internet, the TurboBoost (tm) isn't going to help TWC much.. not as much as DOCSIS 3 would.
The only reason RR Turbo 15 Meg got Turboboost was because Uverse internet was 18 Meg. This may actually force TWC /RR to spend some money to upgrade.

| Another important piece is that this is not VDSL2.
It's simply AT&T opening up existing VDSL bandwidth to customers closer to the VRAD.
When VDSL2 comes, additional bandwidth will be available for all customers. And I think VDSL2 will come long before pair bonding does -- because the equipment is already in place. Pair bonding will require new equipment to replace existing NIDs.

| AT&T was offering me 24MBps last week AT&T came to my house last week and was offering me the 24Mbps tier that is "already available in my area" for the price of the 18Mbps tier, I asked when they started to provide it and he said "two weeks ago". Not sure if the price was really the same as the 18Mbps tier but could have been a special to try to get me to order the service. | |

1 edit | Shared Bandwidth Isn't the 18/1.5 tier shared bandwidth with the TV allocation? My last understand of it was that 12/1.5 is dedicated to the Internet with the remaining up to 18/1.5 being available for Internet use if not currently be used by TV. Is this how the 24/2 tier will work as well? I would assume if you don't have TV service that the full connection would always be available.

| Re: Better than nothing I agree. When I heard about the profile update including a 5mbps upload rate I was considering switching from Comcast to U-verse again if they offered a 22/4 plan for a decent price. However, this competition is lame since Comcast will offer 3 more mbps on upload when I switch to their 22/5 profile.
If AT&T wants to compete they really should offer their 24/2 for 15-20 dollars less than Comcast's 22/5. =\

DOCSIS3 and digital transition on cable really hurt ATT. Not at all. You are taking an elitist view. Most customers don't care whether it's last-mile fiber or not. Many customers don't even know. Most customers don't need anything faster than what AT&T provides with U-verse.
Cable's primary competition is whatever telco is building out in their local area. They are fighting a huge battle vs. AT&T wherever AT&T is deploying.

| $75 is too much $75 a month is way to much for this. Considering what Comcast gives for $63 and Verizon for $65 a month.
They also have too many tiers. This would make 6 different tiers.
They need to shrink the number of tiers and lower the prices. If its going to be 24/2 it should be around $60 a month $65 max.

| Let them cook up more HD streams.... My area only allows 2 HD streams. And although I only have 2 TV's, I have an HD-DVR that often records 2 programs at the same time from HD channels.... which simply means I can't tune into any HD stations on the other TV.
That is just BS and the main reason I am not signing up with them.
18 Mbps, 24 Mbps.... yeah its nice that they are competing in the speed-wars, but until they can supply at LEAST 4 HD streams to my house, AND one of those fast internet connections..... I ain't switching! -- "I reject your reality and substitute my own!"

| Not news What ever happened to the days where this site talked about new deployments to people that dont' have any real options (( satellite isn't what we call real )).. Now it appears to be mainly a site bringing news of people with existing service getting yet again more faster services, and for the most part the same people deprieved of the technology continue to be so...
You can't say that buildouts isn't an economy concern, from my view point is is... One, I cannot play any console games online with anyone, nor any low latency high bandwidth games (( more latency than the latter )) even on my pc... I thought about upgrading my computer recently to a quad core system.. But when I thought about it.. What return would I have in usability? Sure, I could play off line games.. The few what I consider fun ones that exist.. But the real fun in with the online community, not some AI computer bot trying to take you out.. So, till world of warcraft isn't playable on my old agp video card and amd 3200xp cpu, i'm not doing anything for a long while..... Just no point.
There are many other services that broadband could provide to people, video streaming, online purchase downloads, its all be regressed by tight buildouts and now internet regulating and capping.. The 5 gigs that alotta wireless providers are all rubbing each other over is just sick... SICK.. What the hell has happened to this country? Land of the Free? Or land of the FEE? God I hate monopoly's in a soo called free market, yet moderated to restrict multiple utilities existing to provide the same service's..

| Indeed. I would be aggravated if I couldn't get broadband. In some places just being able to get 1-6mbps DSL is a big thing if you have been stuck on dialup all of these years and can't move. I think that's the real story. Get people connected that are still NOT connected. I use 1.5mpbs DSL and its perfectly adequate for everything I do. I don't know what people do with 10-20mpbs although it is nice to have for sure if you can get it and afford it. | |
