| Re: Forget it! As much as I know Hob, he does not need anyone backing him up or sticking up for him. But try to imagine building something from nothing, then to have it taken out of your hands, then given back with little control over upgrade and innovation. Then to be forced. Yes i said and i meant forced to move elsewhere if you want to keep your job. This means losing what you know, what you've been comfortable with for the last several years, all the friendships and relationships you have developed in your years, having to move away from your family (for those who do not know coudersport, everyone and i do mean everyone who worked there lived around family, that is why they lived there or around that area or had close friends that made it like a family) all to have it ripped out and thrown away from the new company that you have to work for now if you really want to stay in the same field or just to pay your bills because in this area unless you have a degree, you are lucky to get anything that pays more than $8 an hour. For a lot of the 500 who lost there jobs at Adelphia in Coudersport just over a year ago are now working and living in other areas of the country just to stay ahead. For a lot of those people every day they have to go to work at the place that dismantled our 500 person family without those other 499 people that made it a great family and I would think Poppa Hob would agree with that. Where can you go to work everyday and honestly say I like my supervisors, I like my managers and trust that you can go to ANY of them with a problem (personal or business) and know that they or anyone else in that company will help you if they can. So yeah for the most part it will never be over as it will be a constant reminder everyday of what was. However we can do without more bad news from this issue as there is nothing more the US Courts will do. Although wouldn't it be possible to petition for a Presidential Pardon from Bush before he leaves office at least for John? I mean he can't do any worse on his way out right? Also for the Sabres fan, Honestly I am a die hard Sabres fan but if this this happen then who would the owner be and what would they have done to the team. Also if your die hard about Buffalo teams how about paying more attention to where Ralph wants to ship the Bills and care more about this because obviously the Sabres are here to stay, just wish they wouldn't ship most of the best players elsewhere. -- I am the Coyote | |

Better yet, how about just tossing them out into society and make them get a real job and have to live on that intead of earning a living as a white collar criminal. This is a DEATH SENTENCE! Make no mistake about it. 83 years old, and a 15 year sentence. And there is no parole in the federal system. You must serve 85% of the time. That's 12 year, 8 months. He'll be 96 by then.

Yes he should die becasue of a hockey team, and yes I am shallow. Hockey is a way of life and the blood of this area. If the Sabres would have left, the local economy would be worse then it is now. If you can't see the difference between a card game that affects nobody and a money scam that affects thousands of honest and hard-working people and their families, you have some issues.
The guy committed a crime that warrants the amount of time he got, if not more. He's 83, but he knew exactly what he was doing. The fact that he may die in jail is something he should have thought about before taking part in the scam.

2 edits | While ginning up sympathy for The Rigas Family is unlikely on my part, as it would only give me a hernia from all the effort, I do get a kick out of the comments of some:
"Club Fed".
Club. Fed.
Ahh, the Pavlovian buzz words of The Squawking Heads, as they construct the piss-off of the day for their listeners. And the listeners, if they investigated the less-than-salubrious conditions in most(Admittedly not all, like Allenwood Minimum Security) Federal Lockups, would wonder when we returned to The Middle Ages, or chose Andersonville as our modern prison model.
But hey, it makes radio that people listen to, for a release from their swirling gray maelstrom of despair and gives them a focus of blame and anger for the frustrating lives they live. After all, it ain't them doing time.
Well, yet, anyway. After all, 25% of our population is or has been incarcerated. Throwing happy asses in jail is just good bidness. Ask CCA.
Still, it's hard to sympathize with The Rigas Family and those so like them and whose numbers are legion. The Criminals in Cravats, you know? | |

I don't care if you are 83 or 38, what this guy did screwed thousands and thousands of people out of their futures. Since he doesn't have much of a future left, I think he SHOULD spend the rest of it as uncomfortable as possible.

I've got news for you. They didn't bring broadband to these places because they are nice. They saw a chance to make money and went for it.
