Submission filed to CRTC

Telecommunications provider Primus has opted to show its support of the CAIP’s battle with Bell Canada by filing its own submission with the CRTC about the issue. The company urges the CRTC to consider the fact that competition in the market alone will not resolve this issue, saying:
"Bell Canada's unilateral decision to throttle GAS service and stand by that decision in the face of industry protest demonstrates its market power in the wholesale high-speed Internet access market. Clearly, then, the Commission cannot rely on market forces alone to address the competitive impacts and alleged violations of the Act by Bell Canada."
The Primus filing is being discussed in our forums. Additionally, if you’re interested in the protocols that are being affected by Bell Canada’s throttling, there is a list available here.

There is one MAJOR difference between what Bell Canada and Comcast is doing. Comcast is doing it on their network while BC is doing it on the "Last Mile" link between non-BC users and the ISPs that are renting the last mile segment.

Primus..

Primus is one of the bigger players in the market. They have their own ADSL2+ DSLAMS but they still use Bell backbone to transfer their data and therefor are affected by throttling as well.

I am surprised it took them this long to react but i'm glad they did.

This news should be posted tomorrow again as it's kinda late now for pple to react..

Re: Primus..

I have to agree with you. I also made a blog posting about traffic shaping - in my own perspective:
