| From one end of the spectrum to the other? Until recently, NIN has more or less embraced the idea of "quality over quantity", releasing an album once every 5 years or so. Now, we're getting an album from him/them once every few months. Let's hope he doesn't turn this idea on its side. (Although upon first listen of this album, this isn't the case.) | |

They finally figured out that their money is in touring and merchandise, not feeding the big record labels which A do not produce records anymore, and B only produce CD's which are useless in an MP3 age. -- Custom PHP/Perl Development. | The Slip I am just about done listening to the last song after listening straight through the whole album. The download came in incredibly fast from their web site, unlike that Ghost album which had lots of download problems from their site. This new album, The Slip is not bad. It's good to hear lyrics again since the Ghost album was just instrumental. There's definitely some really good tracks on this album and very cool that it was released for free. Certainly doesn't compare to Pretty Hate Machine or some of the older albums though, but that's typical of most bands to decline over the years.

I like the new album & it sounds fantastic. I love how you can download it in many different formats. Although I do agree with you guys Trent's music sounded better when he was on drugs.

| free....you call this album free?? do you not pay for the internet....does he not host it?? Did he not create it...I fail to see free as more as a music creator giving to the needy. I have no opinion, for its lost in the art, its not noize and it has direction..sounds like Trent to me at his best..as it always was. But after all this IS dslreports..money is your god. | |

It is cool to see a major band do this though, and I give my props to them.

I really never thought this day would come where one of the bona fide greatest "bands" of all time would embrace this.
Kudos to Trent for sticking with his plans and giving the recording industries a big stick in the ass.

| Way to go! I'm not a big NIN fan, and doubt I'll download the album, but I think they're doing something great. Hopefully, more artists will realize this is the future, and move that way. You can bet as more bands go this route, the recording industry will freak. | |

| Downloading now Downloading the album as we speak...
Too bad it's going to take an hour an a half due to Bell throttling my torrent download
Ohh well, only half an hour until 2:00am at which my download should jump pretty much instantly from ~55KB/s to 500KB/s+, because we all know that they're network is HORRIBLY bogged down at 1:59am but complete free at 2:00am!
