| Dissolving Sprint One wonders how long the current Sprint Nextel will last- a standalone all CDMA/EVDO wireless company seems to be its planned future. This would probably be more acquisition friendly than the current CDMA/EVDO+iDEN+Long Distance/Internet Network+WiMAX(maybe) company...
Alltel has always seemed like the best suitor for Sprint's CDMA/EVDO network, but I wonder how much money the private equity backers really have access to in the current credit crunch.
Spinning off Xohm in a joint venture with Clearwire, Intel, and the Cablecos makes sense for Xohm and a Sprint wanting to remain independent, but it does reduce the value of Sprint's cellular division for any buyer by moving away some of Sprint's large spectrum assets. | |
