| Re: NYC touch screen payphones Nobody uses payphones anymore. I had a Verizon tech tell me that he had three straight weeks worth of work orders to remove pay phones. Everybody these days has at least one cell phone. The last time I used a payphone was for nostalgia (as I was holding my iPhone in my other hand) and when the coins dropped into the box, it sounded like the only fifty cents (cost of a local call) in the coin box. Payphone calls were thirty-five cents when I was a kid. -- All of my CPE (including my EMTA) is customer owned. The only Comcast owned equipment in my house is the CableCards in the two TiVO boxes I own. | |

| NYC to replace pay phones with Skype-enabled, 32" touch scre If Skype is so popular, then why can't I purchase a license of Skype for Asterisk for my home PBX phone system? Oh, wait! Skype did kill off Skype for Asterisk which Skype were bought by Microsoft.
Heh heh! I bet proprietary is so much better than open source, right? Right? Right!? HUH!? LMAO!!! So Skype is to SIP as Windows/Mac is to Linux. -- Phone: Yealink SIP-T22P + CSipSimple in Optimus V Phone System: Asterisk 10.1; Server: Debian Sid+Exp
I'm in heaven with VoIP except for 3G wireless.

| Apple rant (even though I am a loyal Mac user) Apple has more than enough money and sales that they could make their products in the USA using American components and still make record profits. It might even benefit them as there are people who will not purchase imported goods if they can avoid it. I personally prefer American goods, and I will only own American made cars (my current car is a Dodge, and I've owned GM and Ford).
I'm surprised the Unions have not taken on Apple and put pressure on them to make their products stateside. Even if their products were made with unionized labor, they'd still be profitable. -- All of my CPE (including my EMTA) is customer owned. | Re: Apple rant (even though I am a loyal Mac user) I hate to break it to you, but most "foreign" cars are more American made than domestic cars (and I own a "domestic" Ford). For example, the Volkswagen plant is about 30 minutes from my house. I'd consider that American made. -- RIP Dad (10-28-1955 to 4-10-2010)
