Everyone has their predictions
(old news - 12:15PM Saturday Dec 29 2007)
tags: Video · business · wireless · hardware · rumor · Google
Garett Rogers over at ZDNet has provided readers with a recap of Google’s accomplishments in 2007 and his predictions for what we’ll see from the company in 2008. The big announcement from 2007 which looks to remain important in the upcoming year is, of course, the development of mobile applications for Google’s Android phone platform.

Additional predictions include that there will be new acquisitions (including the potential for ones as large as the DoubleClick deal), new partnerships (probably in relation to their spectrum bidding) and new developments in Google TV.

Other people are predicting that enhanced social networking, improved searches for videos (and even for people) and better syncing with existing mobile phones will be some of the major developments that Google achieves in the year to come.

I Love Google

The title says it all. I've yet to see Google do anything for me to find as a bad idea.

Things I'd like to see from them:

Google OS
Google Browser
Google Phone
Google TV

I'd place Google along side LG. They're the all for one company which seems to be moving into everything.

Then I hope you aren't one of those who puts their REAL identity out on various social networking sites. Because if this prediction
quote:
9. Google will launch a people search engine that gathers data from the web, especially from social networks.
comes true, you better have not revealed too much or you may never get hired for a job, or you may get your identity stolen, or may be stalked by an ex-spouse, etc. Google's weakest attribute is their cavalier attitude towards privacy. And many YOUNG people just don't know better when they reveal everything about their personal lives on the internet.

I'm surprised Google hasn't formed their own political party and floated a few candidates out there for the Iowa Caucuses to consider.

dont do it

google is gaining to much steam. they're monopolizing the way we search and grafting the internet into what the corporates want. they are also planning on making more web apps. eventually the majority of new internet users will not be installing communication software and whatnot, but will go to google/myspace/whatever and use their web based apps. the control of a computer is slowly slipping away from us like our rights since 911.

Re: dont do it

I personally wouldn't use any other search engine other than Google. It gives me all the results I need, and in a nice format too.

They may be monopolizing a few things, but how can that be a bad thing in the 'search' category? I'd rather have 1 really good search engine that does its job (exactly as Google does) than to have a bunch of half-assed search engines that I have to go through one by one until I find what I need... Thats how it used to be with me, I'd search for something on Yahoo, Msn, Dogpile, etc just to find a certain thing. But with Google, you don't need to do that.
