In addition to deploying 1 Gbps connections across Kansas (some of them free for libraries and municipal buildings), the
Kansas City Star says Google is also promising the city Wi-Fi throughout the area. The company says that in apparent addition to some of the fiber lines being run to "anchor institutions," they're providing free Wi-Fi access via around 400 hotspots scattered around the city. The actual locations still need to be determined by officials in officials in Kansas City, Kan., and Kansas City, Mo. Google has a little experience on this front, having offered Wi-Fi in their hometown of Mountain View, California since
2006.
