The insurgents/militants/bad guys already use existing forms of telecom for that purpose, such as cell and satellite phones, 2-way radios, etc., etc.

Imagine these people using encrypted e-mails to scheme large-scale suicide bombings. Quite frankly, its the only notable thing they'll do. The people who try to learn will be oppressed by these groups of destructive people.
A recent article in Macleans got me thinking... How are we suppose to convert (wo)men who were taught and encouraged violence and killing since childhood to be productive to the country's development?

| What about the juice? This is great for Iraq, but.. the only problem I see is that do they have reliable electricity? I've heard from a friend of mine who works as a contractor over there, that after the US military took over the country, the electricity infrastructure was bombed to hell for the most part and some places have it for like a few hours a day, some don't have it at all.
Who's going to be using all that Wimax if there is no juice?

| Re: What about the juice? From what I understand, some of the electrical problems in Iraq stem from an increase in demand. So many more "gadgets" like washing machines and computers are available now than in Saddam's time that capacity can't keep up.
I would imagine they would have some sort of power back up system at the cell sites...

| hmm well iraq has no internet infrastructure like the US... for us to upgrade to all the new wonderfull technologies, we have to RIP OUT the old ones first... big feat considering the broadband providers are in debt because of the old technologies.
Good for Iraq, but just as well, bring the troops home.
