Investors Approve WOW, Knology Merger
Customers Won't See Serious Changes for a While
by Karl Bode Tuesday 31-Jul-2012 tags: business · bandwidth · cable · consumers
Back in April Colorodo-based Wide Open West (WOW) announced they'd be paying $1.5 billion to acquire Knology, making WOW the country's thirteenth-largest pay-TV operator, with roughly 800,000 customers and 2.8 million homes passed across 13 states. Unsurprisingly, investors recently voted overwhelmingly to approve the deal, and the deal simply now waits for regulatory approval -- which is expected to be granted. "From a customer standpoint, this will be pretty much invisible for a while," a Knology rep tells the Montomery Advisor. "It’s not that they're going to wake up and suddenly they’re dealing with a whole new company," says the representative.

Didn't know WOW was still around

Years ago WOW came through the St Louis area promising they were going to overbuild Charter and AT&T.

They called in the media. They put on little dog and pony shows at town hall meetings. They even secured franchise agreements.
Then - nothing.
They just disappeared and never returned.

Re: Didn't know WOW was still around

They have been in northern Illinois for many years with good service.
No idea what happed in St.Louis, but they have been slowly expanding for the last few years.
