Insight Communications Co. today announced that first-quarter revenue rose by 17 percent from a year ago to $205.8 million, and that it gained customers.

The nation's 10th-largest cable operator, which serves Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green and Covington, Ky., plus Evansville, Ind., and Columbus, Ohio. said the number of basic customers rose 5.7 percent in the quarter from a year ago to 689,000. It also experienced a net gain of 16,300 digital customers to 396,900, and a gain of 25,500 telephone customers to 211,700.

The company offers bundled video, high-speed Internet and telephone services.
