| Re: Uverse said by BodyBumper :I'll gladly take the higher speed but they can take their uversetv and shove it. I agree, its nice they have those speeds, but after what they have said about bittorrent users I would never go to them for my main internet usage. Before I get flamed, I do actually use BT for legit uses, WOW updates are a big one, trials and linux ISO's are another. Revision3 shows are another big one for me as they download automatically. I'll stick to my Comcast, their sandvine is better than not being able to use BT at all. -- HOT JAMZ 94FM Listen Live at »sc7.shoutcaststreaming.us:8206/listen.pls | |

I don't recall that AT&T said anything about BT users in general, just that they plan to filter pirated content. The implication being that P2P transfer of legitimate files should not be affected. It remains to be seen if the technology to distinguish between authorized distribution and unauthorized distribution will work reliably, and on a large scale. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum

| Re: Uverse I think it's 10 bucks more a month. In any case, I have UVerse now, and probably am going to get rid of TV soon. If they start clamping down on Bittorent, I'll probably just go to dry loop dsl, provided by their.. left hand? It's a few bucks cheaper, but doesn't use this ridiculous gateway and seemed to be pretty damned reliable for me.
The TV is a joke though. The party really gets crashed by the WinCE boxes, which are just crap through and through. -- See you on:

| Maybe its a local thing, but... I've been clicking around the U-verse ordering page for the last couple days. U-verse *is* available to my home, but when I try to order, there is no U100 bundle and no U100 option in the create-a-bundle. The 50 channel family package is there, but not the 100 one.
Also still not seeing the 10/1.5 tier for internet as an option, and that is what I REALLY want.

| Uverse? Try "Re"verse Uverse or better known to us telco employees as "Project Lightspeed" is an utter joke . Combining fiber with copper plants and the teaming up of the phone company with Microsoft is destined for nothing but headaches. That is, headaches for our customers. Yes, those customers that have been tortured by the offshore "helpless" desk and by contractors for premise CPE/IW repair for both residential and business. Oh yeah, I forgot the temporary employees being used throughout the former BellSouth nine state region. Maybe the Deathstar should take a really good look at Verizon? Not only did they do their IPTV "FIOS" platform very well but guess who does the complete installation? A Union employee. I would certainly welcome any and all feedback from Verizon employees. P.S.-Take a good look at the Customer Satisfaction of FIOS and compare it to the rest. It's a FACT! | |

| Re: Uverse? Try "Re"verse Try this one. I was at a client in the hills of West LA who lost one of her phone lines. This was as the rains were nailing us. So I happened to see a Verizon tech in his van around the corner. I asked if we could get him to look real fast at this problem. His response was they had 1100 tickets in queue when the norm should be 200, so my client would have to wait her turn. I also asked about the FiOS in the area. He said it was at the bottom of the hill, but Verizon ran out of money to extend it for now, AND they were not paying much attention to the existing copper plant. So VZ clients in the area were getting double-screwed. -- There is not a man in the country that can't make a living for himself and family. | Re: Uverse? Try "Re"verse I figure I'll sign up after others have gone through the pain. I don't want to commit until I see things stabilize. I have a friend in Stevenson Ranch that just ordered a package. I have to go set up his network (make sure security is still OK) once they install it. I hope to have a better idea then. -- There is not a man in the country that can't make a living for himself and family. | Still useless 10/1.5 is still useless for the amount of money your paying..the upload barely even changed, why even bother? The download is pathetic.
Atat should of went with a 20/5 tier, I think that's the sweet spot..even for power users. -- "I am the worst president in U.S history, I'm either stupid or dumb most of the time, but people still believe me." George W. Bush

| infrastructure, insfrastructure, infrastructure Can't speak for every community, of course, but here in Sacramento at&t is only for copper phone service except for the few dozen (well, maybe there are a few more) houses that are close enough to the half dozen COs to get data service.
They wouldn't even let me have DSL service (too far from one of the half dozen COs they said) yet DSLExtreme.com (a reseller) provides me with 1536/384 DSL (we have Comcast too but don't start me up with their problems).
It would be nice to argue the merits of high speed DSL, Uverse, or Project Lightspeed (which by the way did promise Sacramento more RTs years ago but that never happened). The million or more citizens of Sacramento County might as well be living somewhere in rural North Dakota.
