Google, Apple Execs Conduct Patent Talks
As Patent Hysteria Reaches Fevered Pitch

As the mobile device patent hysteria escalates, new reports suggest that Apple and Google executives have been holding new meetings aimed at keeping the lines of communications open despite an increasingly-ugly amount of legal patent bloodshed. While Apple did just win a major patent battle against Samsung in the States, they've lost a few internationally -- and were just hit with a new lawsuit by Google, who just acquired more than 17,000 patents in their acquisition of Motorola. CEO Larry Page and Apple CEO Tim Cook have had several private discussions with more looming, which a Reuters source speculates could be focused on "a truce involving disputes over basic features and functions in Google's Android mobile software."

So it goes

If if they come to any agreement it will be to prevent newcomers from entering their market.

Re: So it goes

and it very could well be that way. But remember; a lot of what Apple and Android have others have had longer- double tap to zoom- Blackberry Storms had had BEFORE iOS was even out on iPhone.

Google will roll over in this one; the same as they do for any other company.

Re: So it goes

Not sure you're wrong but hasn't iOS been the operating system on iPhones since the very beginning in 2007 (2 years before the Storm was released)?

Re: So it goes

i stand corrected. iPhone was out first before Storm, but iPAQ was out first- which was touch screen- from what i can find- early late 99s.

Hmmm...

If Apple bends in any way from their recent path it will only be because they think they may lose something in the future from all this fighting. Just my opinion.

The High Road?

This may be speculative fiction but are we, perhaps, reaching the point where reason prevails? These guys KNOW how much all those lawyers cost, and it's a TON, and what do they get for it? A measly couple million dollars and, wait for it, an angry competitor who will work the search-and-destroy harder than ever.

These are talented companies, with great ideas, would not the better idea be to put all those "lawyer dollars" into Research And Development to crush the competition with "innovation" ???

I Just Don't Understand ...

They aren't shitty, they make good products, they are just egotistical maniacs who form a cult and act like they invented everything

Re: The High Road?

If you would read the rest of his posts on this website, you would know he is far from an Apple fan.

If you deny that Apple makes high quality products (albeit incredibly overpriced) and usually lacking in comparison to the products they're made to compete with... you're crazy.
The main thing I hate about apple is the sheep mentality.

I am an Apple fan actually. Not a fanboy by any means.

All corporations are cut throat. You just have to remember that fact in life and never take sides. Any one of them would do this sort of thing if they are on top, but the problem is, usually the justice department comes down on you. Apple is flirting in Microsoft mid 90s territory.

Buy what you like, never become a fanboy. Corporations are a friend of money, not you.

I almost typed out the word fanboi in my post, I suppose I should have. Edited my post to change a tad - I posted it right before going to sleep.

Um, that's hardly a fanboi position. It's actually accurate.

Good products, but Corporate Douchebags.

Actually that is more likely, it's the same reason he returned to the helm and stuck it out to the bitter end.
NO ONE was as driven as JOBS, not even gates (but it was close, the target is just different now) to RULE the computer business world with HIS ideas.

More reasonable less driven people will see the company forward into the BIG and STABLE phase.

And part of that is learning to get along and play well with others.

And it goes like this...

Apple: Okay, give me all your money and you're not allowed to make anything other than fugly phones. Cause our patents are valid.
Google: No. You are not allowed to use anything Motorola had patented!
Apple: FU!
Google: FU!

Media: "Yet another round of patent talks was conducted by Apple and Google executive, though we were not informed if any progress was made"

Patent War Address

I hope Honest Abe forgives me:

"Four days and more than seven years ago Google and Apple brought forth on this continent a new way to communicate, conceived in liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great patent war, testing whether that patent, or any patent, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure."

They will end up in Federal Court because Apple is unyielding in their demands.

Patent Wars are the ill but....

While patents, trademarks, etc. are all ills I despise, but unfortunately right now the only weapons in the war..

So break out the Big M patents, because there is ZERO way you have any device especially a mobile phone that is not in need for some type of patented tech from Big M!

So GO THERMO NUCLEAR ON THEIR ASS GOOGLE! Its time to get in the game and HELP & SUPPORT YOUR OEM'S!

Pay up crapple.... $50/per patent/per device or what ever works out to all $100 billion in cash and every penny of profits and cash they might make or have.

screw FRAND!
