| What the hell? Do these people when they write the rules do they think of everything that can possibly happen? Also if there is a nuke attack I don't think there will be cell phone towers around or any kind of broadband to connect to.
I think my phone breaking in a nuke attack is the last thing I'd care about if I survived the attack that is.

Every country has government continuity plan and courts and law enforcement is part of it. It wouldn't be the first thing to settle but eventually it would come up. | |

Believe it or not,there will still always be people who would try to claim a new phone after a nuclear attack.

Oregonians would suffer radiation poisoning, and die an early death. Cell phones in Oregon and Washington will be destroyed by the EMP. Washington residents, while mourning the deaths of their Californian family members, will want their cell phones and computers replaced.
No, i did not do the math. I did not measure state distances. I don't know how far a nuke blast reaches. Nobody specified the size of the nuke. Yes, I am aware that a nuke blast probably would not destroy all of California. It is an example, stupid.
The point is no matter how many people die, the survivors will live. They will be "happy enough" the first few days, but when the euphoria wears off, they will want their cell phones. | |

| Related to that terrorism insurance stuff I think this is related to terrorism insurance stuff, as regular insurance plans will not cover any type of damage due to a terrorist attack.
I see the riders and paperwork in my business insurance mailings all the time, so I think that is what this is.

| Think a little deeper... Did any of you read the blog and comments? Sure you would have more things to worry about in a straight up nuclear bomb attack, but we most likely won't have that happen at least anytime soon.
But...that doesn't mean we won't have something like a dirty bomb go off or an EMP. Neither of these means that everyone would die, even people able to see either one go off.
Sure its a small item to worry about in such a time, but eventually the need will crop up to replace the phone after such an event. Why should you have to pay a the full price for a new phone? Even with phone insurance you still pay a fee of $50 for a replacement phone. Not that the amount of $5.00 every month hasn't already equaled a new phone. I've had the lockline service for each of the Cingular phones I have gone thru. I've never had to use it, yet. From that amount alone (over 3yrs worth) I should have way more than enough for my particular account to pay for a new phone. Why should my money go towards another person's phone? That is how insurance policies are setup.
You pay so much money a month to insure whatever property it is you got insurance for. This money goes into the insurers bank. It is pooled and is used for the customers who do have to call upon their insurance. Now rather than pool this for each individual in private pools, its all put in the same pool. Gee this sounds flawed. What happens, if say, a hurricane comes along and wipes out half the homes in an area and everyone calls up their insurance company, which happens to be the same as everyone else's? Yeah that's what I thought.
The same goes for cell phones. But then again insurance companies are betting on that you won't need to use them. Which is why Health Insurance love healthy people. All the healthy people pay for the sick people. | |

| Use It And Weep Cingular service area wide policy is to do unto the customer before they read the fine print. I had Cingular for two years; it was by far the worst service I ever paid for. As near as I can figure I was cheated me out of about $1000 before the contract expired. The very last deal was for $40. I foolishly believed the FUD about the pre-paid service that was supposed to work nationwide. I was a bad joke. When I complained to Cingular the employees laughed. I would never recommend Cingular for any service for any reason.
I've since used T-Mobile and Sprint with far better results in the very same areas where Cingular failed to perform at all - like from my house which was a mile from the nearest tower. The $1200.00 give away phone wasn't worth
a buck because the technology was old when I got it.
Once burned, thrice careful.
