quickly approved the CenturyTel/Embarq merger, Julius Genachowski was yesterday officially approved as the new head of the FCC. Acting Republican Commissioner Robert McDowell was likewise appointed to a second term. The remaining seats will be filled by Democrat Mignon Clyburn, and Republican Meredith Attwell Baker. In a
statement (pdf), interim FCC boss Michael Copps proclaimed he looked forward to working with Genachowski "in tenacious pursuit of a communications policy that truly puts the public interest first."
