You can bet that if Apple takes over the $8 streaming is dead as is the compatibility with dozens of platforms, Apple would likely make sure it only works through iTunes and certainly not on Android devices. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports

| Re: iFlix in our future? I would have to disagree. If Apple did take it over, I don't see them pulling support of devices that are already using Netflix. The apps are already developed, it would be going backwards to take them off of other platforms. It would also inevitably lose them money. | |

If you don't think Apple will kill-off support for the Android platform, then you haven't been paying attention.

| openbox9Premium join:2004-01-26 japan kudos:2 | I doubt it. Apple doesn't need Netflix. It already has deals for a lot of popular content that just need to be expanded. Apple already has its ecosystem, it just needs to tweak its pricing models for subscriptions. Apple has zero interest in physical media so in the unlikely case that Netflix is acquired, kiss the DVDs goodbye which will once again irritate Netflix customers. The argument that buying Netflix makes for an easy entry into streaming only lasts so long as the existing contracts are around. The content owners are chomping at the bit to bend Netflix over at first opportunity. It's better for Apple to avoid the Netflix stigma and instead force its will upon the content owners as it continues to do in other markets. | |

| Looks like I am not alone over this one. I'd rather not get my video fix from a company that seems unable to do anything for less than 150% the cost anyone else can do it for.
If the service still functioned as it does now, I am unsure what I would do though.
Fact cable costs me 65 bucks a month for utter shit.
Fact Netflix costs me 8 bucks a month for service so many levels better that cable is ****ing crazy if they think we cord cutters are ever going back.
If it was bought by Apple and I saw no impact, I would not mind. But I require that I still be able to watch it on any device I wish as long as it can get online. I am not interested in buying a massively expensive device to watch it that's for sure. And that seems to be the norm for all things Apple.
