Online TV Viewing Approaches the Mainstream

»news.yahoo.com/s/nf/20080905/tc_nf/61717
Nearly 20 percent of American households are tuning into TV over the Internet. That's twice the number from 2006, according to new research from The Conference Board Consumer Research Center and market-research firm TNS. The most popular destinations for online broadcasts? The official TV channel home page and YouTube.com.

The growing movement toward watching TV online is attributable, in part, to schedule-bucking viewers who want to watch the shows they want to watch when they want to watch them. Other reasons for the rise in online TV viewing include portability and the ability to skip commercials.

Specifically, 43 percent of online TV viewers tune into the news, 39 percent watch drama shows, 34 percent view sitcom/comedy shows, 23 percent watch reality shows, 16 percent view sports, and 15 percent view user-generated content. Previews, additional content from favorite shows, soap operas and advertisements are also gaining the attention of online TV viewers.
This is what will cause internet traffic to skyrocket and drive up prices; cause caps; institute pay-by-byte; etc.

RE: Joost To Kill Desktop Client

You can see a demo of the new browser based Joost here:

Here is the video:

Unfortunately, it is still P2P based and that will keep many from using it, including me. Especially because P2P will use up upload bandwidth slowing access down for other apps running at the same time and reaching caps sooner.

Retrials of 3 ex-Enron broadband execs postponed

Yeah, God forbid some Federal judge is inconvenienced by due process, especially when it's Federal prosecutors asking for the delay while the defendants seek their appeals. If dealing with a crowded court calendar is so difficult for this judge she should try working for a living.

In this case she's just pissed that the gov't is going after these Enron guys again after she tossed out multiple jury convictions.

This isn't the first problem prosecutors have had with this judge. She's also caused problems for prosecutors going after Tyrone Williams, a guy who murdered 19 illegals including children by leaving them locked in a big rig trailer to bake in the Texas sun at 173 F.

Out of what can only be her racism, she, according to the 5th Cir Ct of Appeals »www.ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions%5C···.wpd.pdf »www.ca5.uscourts.gov/opinions/pu···.wpd.pdf threatened prosecutors with inappropriate discovery demands, inappropriate jury schemes and instructions and refused to follow appeals court instruction. And while she bitches about the Enron case delays, she endlessly delayed the capital murder trial of Tyrone Williams because he was black and she's a black activist.

And it wasn't like there was question of his guilt, jurors found him guilty in all 58 counts.

She's an idiot who needs to be impeached.
