Fon, the self-professed "largest Wi-Fi community in the world," has licensed Spotigo's Wi-Fi Smart Client and will distribute it to the company's "Foneros" as the "Fon Wi-Fi Connection Manager." The tool will allow users to automatically connect to Fon hotspots when travelling. It won't, however, address the flaws in Fon's business model (it's against most ISP's TOS), nor will it increase the number of hotspots available (20k globally, as of last September). Users have been buying the subsidized routers, then flashing them with third party firmware. Fon is also working on a client that will be compatible with Windows-based phones, according to Infoworld.
