defined as the removal of distinctions between fixed and wireless telecommunication networks that create seamless services using a combination of fixed broadband and local access wireless technologies, is something to keep an eye on as more and more people begin to telecommute or otherwise work away from the cubicle-based office. A new InfoTrack for Enterprise Mobility (IEM) study found that although enterprise expenditure on Fixed-Mobile Convergence (FMC) was in its early stages during 2006, the trend toward adoption of such voice solutions will command a greater percentage of the overall wireless communications budget in 2007. According to
this press release, North American organizations are leaning more towards enterprise-centric (as opposed to carrier-centric) FMC options, making businesses a target focus for vendors seeking to spread the use of FMC.
