This just shows once again that patent law on so-called process patents is still needed. A recently signed law ( »www.wired.com/threatlevel/2011/0···atented/ ) did virtually nothing to reform the patent system. The Congress needs to get in gear and pass real patent reform and end the granting of all these process patents once and for all.

Hard to believe Verizon was paying around 12 million a month to use their own VOD package.

Hard to believe Verizon was paying around 12 million a month to use their own VOD package. Especially for subscribers that don't use it. I use TiVos. I don't use FiOS VOD. Besides their VOD quality is a step dwon from the broadcast content..

| | | | I love the way that everybody always assumes that the patent infringer is innocent. You considered this story for 20 seconds, as compared to a jury who considered this issue for weeks and concluded that Verizon stole the technology. | |

Activision has real patents for real technology for products that actually exist and are actively being used. Whether you agree or disagree with software patents and the like, I don't think this exactly a troll case.

The problem isn't that every patent infringer is innocent, it's that current patent law and patent trolls are absolutely preventing rather than promoting innovation.

I mean, some patents that are approved are so absolutely ridiculous and broad that I can't imagine how a human being could look at the patents and laugh their asses off.
Patent reform needs to be made considerably more narrow in terms of details.

They would have to have an understanding of something aside from raising money and campaigning which clearly is a lost cause.

1 edit | admid PRICE HIKE$ From set-top rental fees, federal and state "UN" fees, to service fee hikes for 2012 the value is going down and the price for stand-alone services have also gone up to punish you for not bundling.
Standalone internet 15/5 $54.99, 25/25 $74.99, 50/20 $144.95 Also they are so nice if you order online to waive a $60 installation fee.

| | Message On My 7232 I have a message on my 7232 when I checked, it reads..
Verizon has recently made changes to the VOD menu. It is important to note, no content has been removed, only the location of the content has changed. HD programs can now be found in categories such as Free, Premium Channels, Events and TV Shows on your main menu screen. For Flex View movies, almost all titles offer the SD and HD versions directly when ordering. We appreciate your continued use of FIOS TV service.
I noticed a few days ago the main menu changed a bit, more like it was before it was revamped a few months back.

| Huh? Anyone who thinks a large company does not steal, lie, cheat or flex its corporate muscle to get what they want has been asleep for a long time. Telephone companies as a whole are notorious for lying to FCC and customers alike to get what they want. It is amazing that FCC has not caught on in the last 60 years. -- Mac: No windows, No Gates, Apple inside | |
