Users in our Cox forum discuss the company's continued speed upgrades, noting that the faster speeds have arrived in the Arizona market. As of yesterday, Preferred Internet will be going from 7Mbps/512kbps to 9Mbps/768kbps with advertised speeds including PowerBoost of 12Mbps/1Mbps. The company's Premier tier will be going from 12Mbps/1Mbps to 15Mbps/1.5Mbps with advertised speeds including PowerBoost of 20Mbps/2Mbps.

Yep

I've had these speeds for a few weeks now. It works very nicely where I'm at.

I'm definitely seeing faster. Except the crappy speedtest here, I get 20mgs+ everywhere else. On FTP, I see sometimes 3500 KB/sec when downloading from my server.

Yes, they have. I have anyway. It's on Cox's Gulf Coast site right now. Tech support confirmed it was up for me.

Nothing yet...

I checked my speeds Sunday but didn't see any increase in upload. Maybe a power cycle of the modem and router this evening will fix that. It will sure be nice to see the premier speeds when I move in about a month and get upgraded for going with the triple play.
Update: I rebooted my modem and router and was upgraded to the new preferred speeds. Most speed tests were in the 12-15 down range while my upload saw the best benefit going from 550 previously now up to 1500-2200.

That value tier is pretty expensive opposed to what verizon DSL has on their value tier $29.99 vs. $14.99 VZ dsl

I wish

Fios would get here. I'm on Comcast territory. I used to have Cox and liked their service.

Someone in the AZ forum called Cox and was told the upgrades are being spaced out over two nights. So, hang in there. You may just be in part 2. It won't hurt to reboot your modem and see. You never know!

This week...

This week raise speeds, next week ridiculous low caps with overage fees because of the bandwidth crunch that will ensue.

Ya know, 5% hog all the bandwidth...Im sure that will be the excuse.

If you get upgraded make sure you unplug your cable modem and wait 5 minutes and plug it back in. Cox will send you the new config file for the modem so you can get the new speeds. Thats what I had to do when cox upgraded RI a 2 years ago. My friend told me about it and when I got home unplugged the cable modem and plugged it back in and bingo the new speeds were there.

I'll take it

I am happy with my reliable 7Mb service. So long as they don't make their noted caps into hard caps or take HSI price increases I don't care what they do.

Re: I'll take it

and they keep jacking up the price.. whata shock.... i just have standard service and hsi.... when the new rates go into effect it going to be over 100/month..... this is nutz when i started cox his my plan was 29.99 mon and in 12 years it nearly doubled almost... and for what faster speeds? idk.... 3mb/256k up is pleanty for a soho w/4 pc's and a xbox 360... like who cares for faster speeds, except for you torrent freaks.. lower prices is where they should focus on.. out here theirs no competition so cox can just jack up the price w/o and reason.. they gave an excuse of rising infestructure costs? thats one hell of a bs excuse... crap like that just pushed me to dsl and dtv

Re: I'll take it

Video price increases aren't a Cox exclusive. When Comcast took over for ATTB my video prices there went up 30% in 18 months. And for ATTBi subs who weren't CATV subs, their HSI monthly rates instantly went up 33%.

Re: I'll take it

With video yes but you had to follow them into the toilet. I lost my grandfathering when they moved Speed from the regular tier onto a new $5/mo separate "premium" tier. When I added that tier to keep Speed, I lost my old ATTB "Platinum" pricing (they moved me onto the Comcast version of the Platinum tier)...but didn't know this until I got my bill and it was $18 higher than the old one. Of course when I called to bitch they said ooops, but I couldn't get the old tier back. They said I couldn't get the "Premium" tier with ATTB's Platinum tier.

With HSI, we didn't see changes for 3 months. Then on my bill my HSI rate was increased $14 with a line for $14 "bundle discount". Those HSI subs without CATV never got the so-called discount, just the 30% price increase. No one here actually saw a discount because ATTB didn't have bundling penalties. HSI was the same low $42.95 price whether you had CATV or not.

"HD or HD/DVR Receiver $5.25 $6.25"
Cry me a river.
We pay 12/mo for a HD receiver and 18/mo for HD-DVR
and we don't get price breaks on additional TVs!
When you think you got it bad there are always areas that are getting worse deals than you.

Joe, are you in AZ? AZ is the only market affected as far as I can tell by the posts in the Cox forum. If you are in AZ, try rebooting your modem.
