As company begins construction on $56 million network upgrade...

Fairpoint may have had some early trouble running New England 911 services after acquiring networks in three states from Verizon, but they claim network upgrades are going smoothly. The company says their new backbone network is designed, equipment has been ordered (from Cisco), and construction is under way. The company is telling New Hampshire residents that the $56 million upgrade should bring DSL to 95% of the state. As an aside, the company's CFO has stated he'll resign starting August 15.

BBR Hates FairPoint

It amazes me just how much Karl HATES Fair Point and other ISPs. When ever there is a story that could be a positive for a company he hates, he leads that story with a negative point that is totally unrelated to the actual story.

Now for the disclaimer.

I don't work for Fair Point. I am not a customer nor do I live any where remotely close to their service area. I don't think I even know anyone who lives in their service area.

Re: BBR Hates FairPoint

How in the hell did you pick up that Karl hates FairPoint?

I read this yesterday here, and guess what - not one mention of the problems they have been having. Just glorifying the pick of Cisco. every company has problems, but if your going to highlight the bad without the good, or vice-versa (as the article i linked to does), then it's not fair and balanced.

Karl pointed out that they have been having issues, and selected a new partner to assist them - what the hell is wrong with that????

Re: BBR Hates FairPoint

Read the postings, positive stories almost always lead off with an unrelated comment about something that the ISP has done wrong.

he says that because every time FairPoint is brought up in a news article Karl beats a dead horse by saying about their 911 problems they were having. Why keep bringing it up?

HA I wish!!! It's more like 1.5mb download and 512k upload, for $44.95 a month... believe me I know, I've been paying the bill for about 3 years now :\

I've been a customer of FairPoint in Maine for over 3 years now and the DSL service they offer is just short of pathetic. Like for instance, today my DSL has been offline for about 6 hours, it comes back online just to have speeds equivalent to dial-up.

This happens at least 3-5 times every week, and it's sad because I pay for their over-priced services just so they can not give me what I'm paying for.

Ever since Fairpoint bought verizons lanlines, it's gotten worse. It was never as bad as it was but now it's gotten to the point where it's unenjoyable. I'm trying to run a business now online and it's just not possible with FairPoint in Maine.

Sorry about my rant, just needed to get this off my chest and happened to read this article, lol.
