If you have a 2wire modem and it's consistently dropping connections, but you maintain sync there is something you might need to be aware of. The 2wire can drop your connections if you attempt to exceed it's maximum ports opened per connection. It's been checked that the limit is 1024 connections max.

Constant Connection Drops in the East bay CAFor those of you that have Motorola modems, this limit may be imposed as well if you use the modem in any other mode than "PPPoE Not used" mode. For this I would suggest possibly a 3rd party router doing PPPoE and the motorola modem.

Also to not use game server browsers, that seemed to crash the gateway as well. But everything is worked out now : )
