NEW YORK - Cisco Systems is aggressively trying to build its presence in key growth markets, and it's using both new products and new acquisitions to do it.
On Monday, Cisco (nasdaq: CSCO - news - people ) announced plans to buy P-Cube, a privately held networking vendor, for about $200 million in cash and options. P-Cube makes software and hardware that allows service providers such as telephone carriers and cable companies to manage the broadband services they sell to customers.
