It's like asking if driving faster is worth the additional gasoline costs. If you're driving a long distance, it may be worth it because you'll make good time, but speeding short distances around town will do little to get you anywhere much faster.
Likewise, if all you're doing is visiting web sites and downloading relatively small amounts of data, there is little benefit to this higher tier. But if you're downloading gigabytes upon gigabytes of Linux isos on a daily basis, there is certainly a benefit to the additional speed this tier offers.

Sometimes I am on my computer my son is playing XBOX 360 and my sister comes over and uses my son's computer( she doesn't have one of her own. get a job sis.  ) that's 3 things all using bandwidth at once. With 5 meg it got to be an issue sometimes. With 10 meg it's not really an issue, works well. I am going to try 16 Meg when it comes to my area. | |

So same price. (no way $30 increase) Others are reporting one hell of a promotional rate in some area's. | |

| All good here... except for their ad plans I hope this becomes available in my area soon.
I've been pleasantly surprised by Charter's 10/1 tier in Western Massachusetts. Connection speeds are reliable throughout the day and better than I could have hoped for (testing frequently above 10,000 Kbps downstream and 900 Kbps upstream.)
Their tech support (in my experience) still leaves much to be desired, but I've been pretty pleased with Charter's recent service improvements in my area. I haven't noticed any connection problems for over two years. Hopefully the company can improve its financial position and service further.
The one fly in the ointment, I suppose, is their recent decision to monitor user's behavior and inject ads. I personally don't mind any privacy issues associated with the service (though I understand why some would), but if the ads are obtrusive or if I can't block them, I will look towards alternative services (like my neighbors WiFi )

| Great here in Missouri. Its $45 in my area, NO BUNDLE, just HSI, NO promotion. Can't beat that. Last month my bill was only $35 because they gave me a credit on "taxes paid"..charter said they do that once a year for overcharges on taxes. sweet
I get between 1.6MB/s to 2.0MB/s downloading newsgroups.  | |

5mbps = $29.99
10mbps = $39.99
16mbps = $54.99
I still wish FIOS would hurry up and get here, of course, but in the meantime at least I have something to hold me over while I wait. For the longest time Charter users were stuck with 3mbps, then within a matter of about 2 years, they added 5,10, and 16mbps speeds. And as of now, it's unmetered. So no bandwidth caps to worry about. I'll give credit where credit is due, in my neck of the woods, Charter's doing pretty well. | |

I've honestly been surprised at how good charter is in this area... when I moved here I wasn't happy charter was servicing the area but they've won me over. I'll wait until next year to get whatever the next promotion is. | |
