Cheap, annoyingly slow Internet, everywhere
(old news - 10:15AM Friday Jan 20 2006)
tags: fun · wireless · hardware
Digg users point to a guide where a user hacks a Motorola WR850G router (running OpenWRT) to create a wireless hotspot that uses his cell-phone for Internet access. Of course this would be considerably more interesting if he was using a third-gen wireless broadband network, since solutions like the Junxion Box cost a pretty penny. We're sure Sprint and Verizon Wireless would be thrilled by a dirt-cheap method of sharing EVDO bandwidth.

The lesson is: Go to Starbucks, get on the net and a cup of good coffee. Yeah, don't be cheap on the coffee, too!

Starbucks uses T-Mobile. The SBC service doesn't work on the T-Mobile net. You can, however, use SBC at most Caribou's
