Case study: the UPS was the game lagging culprit!
because the cheap strips might cause errors, slow you down & disconnect!

[Trouble] 2wire dsl modem/router retraining issue

Hi All

Suppose this is a retraining or line issue or something. been having modem retrain at different times of the day, temps have risen around here, but now cooled to seasonal temps--suppose i could see if it happens today or not. but i figure i'll try to figure this out.

After posting the original topic in at&t midwest--suddenly became very laggy in my program i use alot (SecondLife)

Anyways here at current logs as of 8:33a.m. Tuesday April 28th 2009

I checked the line and it was in great shape with no errors I could find in the last 8 hours or even the last 3 days. I advised that it appeared ok from all I could see.

Got these back from the poster:

Ok thanks, maybe it was something local for the few days when it was happening, does seem better now, removed dead surge protector from the power for it, and plugged it into an old UPS i had..no more retrains, or sudden droppings of connections

Thank you for looking at it anyways--maybe changing power connection is all i needed to do in the first place lol

And finally after reading this link:

»Another interference- Computer power supplies!

Yeah i read that other day, so i decided well i'll plug it into the UPS, nothing to lose, and see if it starts acting better

afterwards--no errors anymore in stats, no retrains i've seen or felt, no more lag in online games.
