For the legal side, what is the campaign contribution limit, and what happens if you send too many $10 text messages?

"Typically, these fees can take 30 percent to 50 percent of the money sent over text, industry experts told the Federal Election Commission earlier this year."

Good luck with that. My first kind of thought too.
Most of those guys are so rich already and take so much from big companies, why should I give up my hard earned money? If they actually did some campaigning instead of accusing each other like they do maybe, but otherwise I wouldn't was the time it would take to send that text! -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/

Do these recipients sell/rent/giveaway your phone number to third parties?
Since political calls are exempt from the Do Not Call list, I think I'll pass on donating anything through my somewhat semi-anonymous cell phone number.

What happened to AT&T? Not on the list of carriers with an agreement.
And the story makes it clear only a % of your donation will make it to the political campaign. A healthy chunk will go to the carrier and the group that processes the transaction.
Do yourself and the campaign a favor - contribute by mail and make sure almost all of your money makes it to the intended recipient. -- »www.mittromney.com/s/repeal-and-···bamacare »www.mittromney.com/issues/health-care

| | Contributions By Text And if somebody has a spoofing app, could one not rack another user's bill up by using their cell number and flood the coffers of either candidate? | |
|
| | | Re: Contributions By Text Spoofing would not work in this situation. The carriers know which number a text is truly being sent from, the "reply-to" field typically used in the SMS PDU for spoofing would not work. | |

| What about service? Why should I pay them for sub standard service? When was the last time you paid $100 Million for a $400k job. 99% of Congress are multimillionaires, why do they need $175k for a PART TIME job? Add to that the pension and health and welfare benefits and you're looking at over 200k for a part time job, not too shabby for a no-show job. Someone should sue every Congress member both professionally and personally under the False Claims Act, and make them sweat in the court of public opinion, can you imagine the amount of news coverage and scrutiny that would get them.
Most of the waste in the US Government is right there in the US Congress, overpaid cronies who can legally self deal before the STOCK Act was passed. If I trade on inside info, I go to jail, if they trade on inside info, nothing happens. If they murder someone on the way to Congress, they get a free pass, that's one awesome deal. -- Hello, is anyone out there.
