Just to let everyone know, I received a copy of a firmware directly from Linksys today after requesting some technical help earlier on.
After receiving the firmware I realized that I had received version 1.42.3. At first I thought that was a mistake since the 1.42 closed beta test was going on and rumors of 1.42.1 being sent to testers. But I installed it and sure enough it's a 1.42.3 version dated January 28 2002.
I have spent some time going through it and here is the changes I've noticed right off the bat:
* Some settings aren't kept from a upgrade from 1.40 to 1.42.3
* UPnP is enabled by default.
* MTU is added to the filters tab and enabled by default with 1492.
* Port forwarding is MAJORLY upgraded with customized applications boxes, along with being able to manually set UPnP port forwarding.
* DHCP tab allows you to set client lease times and also to give those DHCP clients specific DNS/WINS servers to forward to.
I have been following these boards very thoroughly so I had knowing about the UPnP issues in the 1.4x versions. I am not sure if they have posted it on their website yet, but here is a copy of the release notes.txt file and ver.txt file included. I have uploaded a screenshot for people to check out of this file.
