| Re: Dish Vs DTV I've had both over the years. The main difference between the two is DTV has XM for music, Dish has Sirius. DTV caters to the sports fan more than Dish. Dish is more notorious for cutting off channels when disputes arise between them and the provider. As for HD content, DTV has the edge there AFAIK. Pricewise, they are about the same withing a few dollars. I do like the fact that Dish has 2 room DVRs, I don't think DTV does. | |

| Re: Dish Vs DTV Another few differences..
DirecTV offers field testing of software for their advanced receivers, which usually bring all the good stuff like DirecTV OnDemand (which uses a network connection)and soon Multi Room Viewing (also via networking).
Also DirecTV has media sharing with PC's AND will have PC Playback within the year for its HD DVR's.
Basically every cool feature D* has involves its HD DVR's. Networking is becoming a big part to bring some great new features, and idk if Dish has this, but DirecTV has a DVR Scheduler on their website and a mobile version for phones too. | |

| I've used both services too. Dish has by far a better DVR service. DirecTV does have a larger HD selection but that seems to be less of a factor as all the major channels are going HD anyway. And Dish tends to be cheaper but not by much. If you want quality HD directv has the benefit and dish if you want quality DVR. | |

| Re: HD content Dish processes a $5 discount for Embarq customers who have a bundled bill, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same for AT&T. After all, ILECs are just business partners with their Satellite TV providers, not the actual providers of the service. The reason there is a bundle discount when you have Dish and Embarq combined is that customers who have Satellite are less likely to get cable for other services, which lowers churn for phone companies. Also, it costs Dish Network less money to have the phone company print the bill as a 3rd party, so Dish is saving money on bill printing and support. Obviously for these reasons a partnership between phone and satellite providers is mutually beneficial. | |
