AT&T Launches Live 3G VideoThe videophone returns -- sort of... ( old news - 12:14PM Tuesday Jun 19 2007) tags: Video · business · wireless · telco · contentAt the 1964 World's fair, AT&T wowed attendees with a video phone, and their 1969 annual report predicted that by 1980 they would sell $1 billion worth of the devices. That never happened, obviously, with opinions on why ranging from technical limitations to customer fear of transmitting their bedhead. AT&T is back with a variation of the theme, today announcing their new Video Share service, which lets their 3G wireless phone users transmit live video to others during conversation. Users can pay $4.99 each month for 25 minutes of Video Share usage or $9.99 each month for 60 minutes of usage. The company also says users can "pay as they go" for 35 cents per minute of use. The service is initially available in their Atlanta, Dallas and San Antonio markets, with further markets available by July. The company says users will eventually be able to share the video via their "three screen initiative" (read: you'll someday be able to share video content between U-Verse/Homezone, your mobile phone and your PC). A recent report argued that 3G videophones would never take off because such devices make it harder to lie. Related:- Qwest's Half-Hearted TV Efforts

| Re: I'll never give up right to lie on phone to annoying callers said by TK Junk Mail :But having it on by default for all calls will forever be a non-starter for me and probably for most others. Indeed... I looked at getting a VoIP phone with video built in and realized that I would never know if the person who would be calling me had video, so just what I would need would be someone calling me as I am standing there, dripping wet in a towel after I've run out of the shower to answer the phone.
BTW, what is this "right to lie" BS you mentioned ? -- Prove it...

| Re: I'll never give up right to lie on phone to annoying callers said by bmn :BTW, what is this "right to lie" BS you mentioned ? Everybody lies on the phone all the time. Sometimes, it is just to spare others feelings. Sometimes it just makes it quicker to get rid of an annoying caller. And sometimes it is in my best interests.
Say my local Mayor running for re-election calls and wants to drum up a vote. And I hate the jerk, but may need him someday to get something straight with local government. I can tell him the truth and say "I hope you are defeated and crawl back in to the hole you came from" or I can say "sorry I can't talk right now, I have guests, but I'll keep you in mind at election time". Clearly the 2nd statement is a lie, but it is one I have no problem in telling.
Same thing with some boring relative I like, but just don't want to spend more than 10 minutes on the phone talking to. I could tell the truth and say "I can't take it any more, your story is boring and I have better things to do with my life than listening to you". Or you lie and say "nice talking to you, but I have to run off to an appointment right now. I'll call you later".
Now tell me you NEVER lie to anyone. If you do, then that is a lie also. -- -- Internet News My BLOG My Web Page

Plus, you would have to be standing in front of the camera. You can easily move away from the camera or face it away from yourself or put a piece of tape over it.

The Mogul is EVDO Revision A capable, but you currently cannot use EVDO Revision A with it; by this fall, Sprint says there will be a firmware upgrade for it, however, that will allow you to use EVDO Revision A with the Mogul.
Similarly, this is when it is suspected Sprint will start releasing EVDO Revision A phones.
